Final Year Exhibition: Plan & Layout
Exhibition Layout:
For the Final Year Exhibition, my project is to be displayed in a physical space at the University of Greenwich. However, due to the complications of COVID-19, it is possible that certain measures may be put in place which could hinder or entirely prevent the exhibition taking place physically. Therefore, I am making this blog entry to demonstrate how my project would have been presented.Here is a mockup of the exhibition space I would have utilised for this project. These images were made in Maya as a rough mock up to demonstrate.
According to my lecturers, my exhibition space would have consisted of an area of 2m wide, 2m deep and 4m high. The left most image demonstrates this, with each blue square outlined representing 1 meter.
The image on the right is without the overlay to better demonstrate my space. I have placed my exhibit in a corner, but if there was to be no wall on the side that would also be suitable for my exhibit, I only require 1 wall.
Exhibition discussion:
My exhibition features a main flat screen at head-height. This would display my animation on repeat for people to view. headphones can be found on the side on a small table/plinth for someone to pick up and listen to the audio of my piece for further immersion. In addition, a tablet can be found on this table/plinth, which would have access to my 360 degree video. This would not feature sound, but a viewer may pick the tablet up to inspect my model from any angle. If it is possible, I would like the tablet to display the 360 degree video on YouTube via the YouTube app, as the app offers additional interactability; By moving the tablet, it moves the camera in the 360 video. This should be an additional enticing factor to viewers.
Overall, my exhibit features a large screen with my animation on display, as well as a tablet to view my 360 degree video. Whilst the flat screen display is very large and allows my project to be seen at great capacity, the tablet allows a lot of interactibility in my project, which would otherwise be potentially mundane and simple. The 360 degree video adds interactability, enticing viewers of my exhibit to be able to pick something up physically and intereact, giving more reason for them to stay and absorb my piece to its full potential.
